What Can We Learn From the Bad Job Market?

What Can We Learn From the Bad Job Market?
I shared some ideas with reporter and workplace columnist Anita Bruzzesehttp://www.45things.com/2009/08/what-can-we-learn-from-bad-job-market.php  ”

For employees, it may be that they never again let their networks lag and their skills become outdated. For employers, it may be that they listen better to their workers and be more aware of what makes top performers happy.

I really do think there is going to be fallout as far as the way people manage their careers, particularly when you’ve been laid off. It changes you in very significant ways,” says Jennifer Kahnweiler, an Atlanta-based executive coach and founder off AboutYOU, Inc.. “I think after something like that, you will always look over your shoulder.”

There is nothing quite as nerve-racking as walking up to the stage to expose your every weakness, physical and mental, before an audience who is all too familiar with the repertoire. You think you will make a mistake, then you do, and everybody knows when it happened. Continue reading the rest of this article...

“They (Introverts) just didn’t place a larger weight on social stimuli than they did on any other stimuli, of which flowers are one example,” said.

“[This] supports the claim that introverts, or their brains, might be indifferent to people — they can take them or leave them, so to speak. The introvert’s brain treats interactions with people the same way it treats encounters with other, non-human information, such as inanimate objects for example,” Inna Fishman said.

  1. Hi Jennifer,
Interesting post about the bad job market. Too often candidates start looking at resources when they have been laid off, Building and keeping your network alive is hard work , takes years and must be a daily habit, Personal branding is also extremely important, if you type on Google your name i.e. “anne egros” you can see how relevant are the information. For getting a high level of visibility on the web and credibility, you must create professional websites where you position yourself as an expert, What story do you tell to your future employers through posts in various social media like Twitter, facebook, blogs and Linkedin ? All that is part of your personal branding,
